Moving into an SDA home: a 30-day plan

Moving is disruptive at the best of times, and SDA moves add paperwork. A structured 30-day plan keeps things manageable.

Days 1–7: paperwork

  • Sign the SDA residency agreement.
  • Confirm SIL provider start date.
  • Update the NDIS portal with your new address.
  • Arrange Commonwealth Rent Assistance if eligible.

Days 8–14: logistics

  • Book removalists — flag any equipment (hoists, wheelchairs).
  • Set up internet, utilities and mail redirect.
  • Order any bedroom furniture that won't fit the new space.

Days 15–21: settling

  • Meet your support team in the new home.
  • Walk your neighbourhood — pharmacy, GP, shops.
  • Set up assistive technology.

Days 22–30: review
