Moving into an SDA home involves more moving parts than a standard move. Use this as a working list, and adapt it with your Support Coordinator.
Four weeks out
- Confirm tenancy paperwork and start date in writing.
- Confirm SIL or drop-in support roster from day one.
- Book removalist and any equipment transport.
Two weeks out
- Redirect mail; update address with Medicare, NDIS, bank, GP.
- Arrange utilities and internet where these are your responsibility.
- Confirm hoist, bed and other equipment installations.
Moving day
- Walk-through with the provider — take photos of any pre-existing damage.
- Test alarms, backup power (if any), intercom, hot water.
- Get keys, fobs and emergency contact numbers in writing.
First week
- Meet housemates and staff; agree simple house norms.
- Identify closest GP, pharmacy, hospital and how to get there.
- Book a review with your Support Coordinator at week two.
