Participant & Family Guides guide

Choosing where to live

Where you live shapes daily life. Take time to think through what matters most before you narrow to a suburb.

Start with what's important

  • Who do you want to see often? How will they get to you?
  • What do you do most days — work, study, social, therapy?
  • What kind of neighbourhood feels comfortable — busy, quiet, near shops, near parks?

Think about the practical stuff

  • How you get around — accessible transport, walking distances, parking.
  • Where you get healthcare — GP, specialists, hospital.
  • Sun, noise and weather — some suburbs feel very different in summer vs winter.

It's okay to start broad

You don't need to pick a single suburb. Set your search across a wider area and see what comes up over a few months.
