Who may be eligible for SDA?

SDA is intended for a small group of NDIS participants whose housing needs cannot reasonably be met by mainstream housing. It is not a general disability housing benefit.

General considerations

• Extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.
• Evidence that mainstream, modified or accessible housing options have been considered and are not suitable.
• A Home & Living request supported by allied-health evidence.

What supports an SDA request

• Occupational-therapy assessments describing environmental barriers at home.
• Evidence of the design features that would reduce those barriers.
• A clear picture of the support model that would work alongside SDA.
